So here I sit with a Bachmann, yes, a Bachmann loco. I got this sound loco for a smoking deal, so had to give it a try. As far as running capabilities, this runs as good as my Atlas locos. Sound is pretty decent, better than MRC but not as good as Soundtraxx or Locsound. Since I only have one UP run through train on the RR, this loco will blend in quite well with the other UP SD's. Now, back to the Bachmann quality. This loco is actually a model of a GP40, but it's numbered for a GP40-2. As such, I'm gonna look past that major discrepancy, since again, it's only a run through loco.
Looking at pics online of this number series, there are a few things I've left off, namely the vertical nose lights. This was a pretty quick detail job, since I didn't want to go all out and add everything. So with this one, I added:
BLMA sunshades
BLMA MU hoses
Sunrise Enterprises Plow
Atlas large MU cable
McHenry couplers
Painted handrail ends white
Weathered with chalks and paint
